The shirting fabrics born under the Albini Group banner rank among the finest indulgences available to a gentleman. The patterns breathe Italian elegance and a genuine love of fashion. The fabrics themselves are the fruit of finely honed alchemy, fusing devotion to craft, a century and a half of experience, and a continual exploration of new possibilities. Shirts made from Albini Group fabrics are worn by statesmen, executives, celebrities and every man able to appreciate quality of cloth and pattern alike. How did Albini Group reach today's heights?
The earliest roots of the company reach back to 1876, when Zaffiro Borgomanero, nephew of Giovanni Albini, founded Z. Borgomanero & C. in Italy. The years that followed were marked by hard work, rapid growth, and the first accolades, which came within only eight years. In 1919 the company expanded and took on the name Società Dr. Silvio Albini & C.
The 1930s and weathering the crisis
Albini, too, had to weather the crisis of the 1930s. It managed to do so thanks to a new approach to organising its workflow and the introduction of semi-automatic machinery. The company emerged from the crisis stronger than ever before.
In 1981, Silvio Albini, a member of the fifth generation of the Albini family, took the reins. His vision was international expansion.
Ten years later, Albini took the traditional British houses Thomas Mason and David & John Anderson under its wing. Along with these British labels came a priceless historical archive of more than 700 volumes of fabric swatches. It is a wellspring of ideas and inspiration for the creative team, literally worth its weight in gold.
Years of expanding production and innovation
The dawn of the 21st century saw Albini Group expanding its production. A lesser-known fact is that one of the mills belonging to the Albini Group operates right here in the Czech Republic. A further acquisition was a weaving mill in Egypt itself, in the very heartland of luxury cotton. It was the beginning of the era of innovative Giza 87 and Giza 45 cottons of the highest grades.
Ecology and the stabilisation of international trade
Albini Group is keenly aware of its ecological responsibility. In 2012 it therefore founded Albini Energia, with one clear aim: to minimise the environmental impact of Albini Group's activities. Permanent branches were also established in both New York and Hong Kong.
The Thomas Mason Lifestyle project
Recognising the strength of the British label Thomas Mason, the group decided to build on it with a new project. The Thomas Mason fabric collection draws its inspiration from British history.
The Albini Group of today is the fruit of years of work and the courage to innovate. The current portfolio comprises the brands Albini 1876, Thomas Mason, Albiate 1830 and Albini, donna. Together they offer more than 20,000 fabrics - a palette sufficiently varied to meet the diverse needs of a most demanding clientele.
