The Czech fashion brand Blažek has entered into a partnership with the Czech Republic national basketball team. It will dress the men's national side, which after thirty-seven years is enjoying tremendous success in the form of qualification for the World Championship in China.
For this occasion, Blažek unveiled a collection in which the entire national team will travel to the World Championship in August 2019. The collection show, which took place on 17 February at Centrum Chodov, was preceded by several months of preparation. Iva Soušková, a specialist from Krejčovství Blažek, even had to travel to see several of the players at their European clubs. The effort paid off, however, and a truly original collection could be unveiled to the public.
The fabrics, sourced from the workshops of the finest Italian and British cloth makers, were selected by player Vojtěch Hruban together with the specialists from Krejčovství Blažek. The woollen suiting from the Travel Suit range by the maker Cerruti is ideal for men who, like top-level athletes, spend a lot of time on the road. The shirting from Thomas Mason, a cotton specialist, is a traditional safe bet at Blažek. "It's comfortable, which is what matters to us, and on top of that we look great in it," laughs national team member Jaromír Bohačík.
The suit stands out not only for its very comfortable fabrics, but also for its distinctive checked pattern. "I think from the beginning we wanted some kind of check, and Vojta took it in the direction that there is a touch of our national colour in it, so it has some depth and theme as well," adds Bohačík. The founder of the fashion brand, Ladislav Blažek, also spoke about the national colours. "Connecting Czech fashion and Czech sport was fundamental for me. I am very glad that the partnership has turned out so well, and at Blažek we will be keeping our fingers crossed for the players at the World Championship," he smiles contentedly.
One of the players joining the team at the World Championship in China will also be Tomáš Satoranský, a Chicago Bulls player and at the same time an ambassador for Krejčovství Blažek. For several years now, Satoranský has been demonstrating across the Atlantic that the combination of the highest-level men's tailoring and top-flight sport truly has much to offer.
