If there is one item in a man's wardrobe where it does not pay to cut corners, it is the suit. It hardly matters whether you wear it daily to the office or only on formal occasions. In both cases you want to look immaculate and leave the best possible impression. And it is precisely for these purposes that wool suits are tailor-made.
A wool suit looks beautiful when purchased and long afterwards
Wool is the ideal material for a suit for two reasons. The first is its visual quality. Thanks to the fineness of the yarn, manufacturers can weave wool into minimalist cloths with a simple structure as well as more elaborate three-dimensional patterns for true connoisseurs.
Wool yarn also takes dye beautifully, which allows us to introduce new shades and colours every year. Our suits are frequently piece-dyed with multiple colours of yarn woven into a single fabric, making their appearance all the more striking.
Wool is wonderful to work with, pliable and readily adapts to the proportions of your body. A wool suit therefore allows you to achieve exactly the silhouette you desire.
In summer collections you will encounter wool suits blended with other natural fibres such as linen and silk. A lightweight summer suit of wool and linen not only offers a refreshing look but also a pleasantly cool feel. Silk, in turn, lends the wool suit an unmistakable natural lustre.
It provides natural thermoregulation
Beyond its luxurious appearance, wool offers many other practical qualities. Wool fibres possess unique properties that even the most advanced technology cannot replicate. While they are hollow inside, on the surface they form an irregular structure of tiny ridges and scales. It is precisely this structure that ensures you feel great in a wool suit in summer as well as winter. How does this work?
In winter, wool acts as a natural insulator. The ridges and folds on the fibre surface trap body heat and prevent it from escaping through the cloth. In summer, wool fibres wick perspiration away from the body and absorb moisture. The moisture gathered in the folds then cools and evaporates, so that you remain comfortable in your suit even on hot days.
You will appreciate wool's thermoregulating qualities especially on days when you wear your suit from morning to evening and need it to breathe well. If you are looking for a suit suitable for regular daily wear, we recommend models from the Travel Suits collection.
