Last summer was the hottest in the Czech Republic in the last two and a half centuries, and we can expect this year's to be very similar. That is why, in addition to brand-new summer suits, you can also look forward to an extensive range of shoes in the new collection. They are lighter and airier than ever before, making them the perfect companion in the hot summer.
Summer suits differ from classic ones in cut, choice of fabrics and construction. When weaving the yarn, wool of lower weight is used along with blends of lightweight breathable materials such as linen, cotton and silk. They are also typified by more relaxed trouser cuts and unlined or half-lined jackets. The suit is therefore lighter, more breathable and offers greater freedom of movement.
Given these qualities, it is only natural that different types of shoes suit summer suits than winter ones. Wondering which ones? Take a look at our three tips for summer shoes you are bound to love.
When the conversation turns to summer footwear, loafers automatically take pride of place. Since they are pleasantly light, airy and exceptionally comfortable, they fulfil everything you expect from summer shoes. On top of that, they are very elegant and still relatively fresh in the Czech Republic. So if you can combine them correctly with a crisp summer suit, you are guaranteed to earn more than one admiring glance from those around you.
Although we can also find more formal pieces among loafers, as a rule they belong to casual or even leisure footwear. They therefore shine especially in professions that value a stylish, polished appearance without wishing to come across as too uptight – for example, estate agents.
And take note. While it is true of all summer shoes that they look best worn sockless, with loafers this goes double. So leave the socks at home this time.
Our tip 2: Suede derby shoes
If you love derby shoes, there is no need to give them up in summer either. Suede ones in particular look truly stunning during the hot months. While polished leather reflects the rays and shines in the sun, on a suede surface the light brings out its colours so the material stands out to the maximum.
Unlike in other seasons, there is also minimal chance in summer that your suede shoes will get wet or otherwise soiled. So when is there a better opportunity to try the velvety beauty of velour or nubuck derbies than right now?
Of our three summer shoe tips to pair with a suit, suede derbies represent the most formal option. You can therefore wear them to important meetings and in professions with a strictly set semi-formal to formal dress code.
Do you have mixed feelings about pairing sneakers with a suit? Fear not. The modern cuts of summer suits in airy fabrics virtually invite this combination. A suit finished with stylish sneakers looks elegant in summer and gives your outfit a relaxed, sporty look.
Besides that, it is a union of beauty and practicality. Sneakers are airier than classic derbies and also cope better with physical activity, which need not be a drawback in summer at all.
We pair sneakers with casual suits. We recommend them especially for offices with a relaxed atmosphere, where they will perfectly round off your Business Casual or Smart Casual outfit. Beyond work, you can also wear them at any time for a stroll around the city, dinner with friends, or a seaside holiday.
Do not fret over the choice of material for sneakers. Their surface is generally more matte than that of derbies, so whether you opt for smooth leather, suede or nubuck, you will always look great.
